{"id":309,"date":"2014-07-28T19:37:02","date_gmt":"2014-07-28T19:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/psblab.org\/?p=309"},"modified":"2014-07-28T19:37:02","modified_gmt":"2014-07-28T19:37:02","slug":"summer-happenings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psblab.org\/?p=309","title":{"rendered":"Summer Happenings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a while since I updated the lab blog, so here&#8217;s a run-down of what&#8217;s new in the past few months&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/education\/graduate-medical-education\/prospective-residents\/anesthesiology\/our-residents\/current-residents.cfm\">Marcin Karcz<\/a>, a resident in the Department of Anesthesiology, got his fellowship grant funded by <a href=\"http:\/\/faer.org\/\">FAER <\/a>(The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research), and will start in the lab shortly.<\/li>\n<li>Our paper with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/pediatrics\/research\/oreilly-lab.aspx\">Michael O&#8217;Reilly<\/a> on mitochondrial DNA double strand breaks and ATM activation was finally <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/25048973\">published in FRBM<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/psblab.org\/?page_id=16\">publications page<\/a> is finally updated to include our 2013 and YTD 2014 papers.<\/li>\n<li>We have a summer undergraduate intern, Ling Yang from biomedical engineering, who is designing\/making circuits for electrical stimulation of isolated cardiomyoyctes.<\/li>\n<li>Our dual-PI R01 application with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nehrkelab.com\">Keith Nehrke <\/a>on the mitochondrial unfolded protein response received a 13th percentile score. Not fundable (NHLBI payline is 11%) but hopefully close enough to fly on the next cycle.<\/li>\n<li>Chad Galloway got an impact score of 30 for his K01 application. No percentiles given, so it&#8217;s fingers crossed for the October council meeting at NIDDK.<\/li>\n<li>Chad also got his paper on mito&#8217; morphology in NASH published in <a href=\"http:\/\/ajpendo.physiology.org\/content\/early\/recent\">AJP Endo<\/a> (accepted but not online yet).<\/li>\n<li>AHA Grants have been flying out the door&#8230; pre-doc&#8217; from Owen Smith, and lots of letters\/references for pre-doc&#8217;, post-doc&#8217;, grant-in-aid and others.
