{"id":772,"date":"2023-05-19T21:02:04","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T21:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/psblab.org\/?p=772"},"modified":"2023-05-19T21:02:04","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T21:02:04","slug":"spring-23-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psblab.org\/?p=772","title":{"rendered":"Spring &#8217;23 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Things have been trucking along in the lab&#8217; since last fall&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Anya Wang (Masters Student) graduated in May, and will defend her masters&#8217; thesis in June.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Caio Tabata Fukushima (Undergrad Assistant) also graduated in May, and will return to URMC in the fall as a PhD student in the Pharm\/Phys graduate program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several papers published nominally during 2022 finally made it to journal pages with a 2023 publication dates (see <a href=\"https:\/\/psblab.org\/?page_id=16\">here<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paul will be presenting Caio&#8217;s work on reverse electron transfer in mitochondrial complex I, at the American Heart Association Basic Cardiovascular Science meeting (<a href=\"https:\/\/professional.heart.org\/en\/meetings\/basic-cardiovascular-sciences?utm_source=GoogleAds&amp;utm_medium=paid_search&amp;utm_campaign=BCVS_REG&amp;utm_content=early_bird&amp;gad=1&amp;gclsrc=ds\">AHA BCVS<\/a>) at the end of July in Boston.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We still have an open post-doc&#8217; position (<a href=\"https:\/\/psblab.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2022-PSB-PostDocAd.pdf\">link<\/a>) and have interviewed several candidates but unfortunately visa and other issues prevented us making an hire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paul&#8217;s work in the area of scientific integrity continues apace, with over 50 papers reported on last year, plus numerous others found to contain problems during peer review. I&#8217;ve been using <a href=\"https:\/\/app.imagetwin.ai\/login\">ImageTwin<\/a> a lot for pre-screening, and frankly it&#8217;s now annoying to be sent a paper to review that hasn&#8217;t gone through some kind of similar tool.
